Hormone Health & Optimization in Los Angeles

Man and woman walking

Maybe you are more tired than you used to be. Your weight or body composition has changed, your sleep is less restorative, or your interest in sex is different. You may suspect hormones, but it is hard to know which change matters or whether hormone treatment would help.

At Delight Medical & Wellness Center, Dr. Payam Kerendian, DO, begins with your symptoms and health goals. Hormones can be part of the picture, but sleep, weight, metabolic health, medications and other medical conditions may also contribute. A physician-led evaluation helps identify what warrants attention before choosing a treatment.

Symptoms can have more than one cause. Dr. Kerendian evaluates the whole picture before recommending treatment.

How are hormones connected with weight, sleep and metabolic health?

Hormone concerns rarely arrive in isolation. Poor sleep can affect energy and weight management. Weight and metabolic health can influence hormone measurements and sexual health. During midlife, menopause symptoms may overlap with thyroid concerns, sleep disruption or changes in body composition. These relationships are why Dr. Kerendian reviews your history and the pattern of symptoms instead of attributing every concern to a single hormone result.

Delight Medical’s long-standing work in obesity medicine and medical weight management is part of this broader Health Optimization approach. If weight or metabolic health is a major concern, it can be evaluated and treated alongside a hormone concern when appropriate.

What happens during a hormone health evaluation?

Dr. Kerendian asks what has changed, when it began and what you hope to improve. Depending on the situation, he may review menstrual history, sexual health, sleep, weight and body composition, medications, medical conditions and relevant risks. Testing is selected to answer clinical questions; the right tests are different for a man being assessed for testosterone deficiency and a woman navigating perimenopause.

The findings may lead to hormone therapy, another medical treatment, weight-management care, changes in daily habits, additional evaluation or a combination. Treatment choices and follow-up are individualized. A consultation is an opportunity to understand your symptoms, not a promise that a particular medication will be prescribed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of doctor can help with weight, hormones and metabolic health together?

A physician who evaluates these concerns in context can help identify whether they are connected and which need separate treatment. Dr. Kerendian’s Health Optimization approach brings hormone concerns together with medical weight management, metabolic health, sleep and sexual health when relevant.

Do symptoms alone tell me which hormone is low?

No. Fatigue, weight changes, poor sleep and changes in sexual health can have several causes. Your history, examination and appropriate testing help guide an evaluation; one symptom or one hormone result rarely explains everything.

Does everyone who comes for hormone health receive hormone therapy?

No. The plan depends on what the evaluation finds, the clinical evidence for treatment, your risks and your goals. Some patients benefit from hormone therapy; others need a different or broader approach.
